Success in London for Porthmadog Ladies Crew

Madog Rowing Club entered two Celtic Long Boat Crews into the 2010 Great River Race (GRR) which runs 22 miles from Greenwich to Richmond on the River Thames. This 23rd GRR held on 25th September attracted over 330 boats from Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland and as far afield as Holland. The ladies crew Bethan Jones, Elaine Hackett, Maxine Jenkins, Nicola Jordan, Sue Andrews and Tina Skinner came top in their class winning the magnificent Welsh Dragon Tina Channon Perpetual trophy for the second year running in the time of 2 hours 51 minutes, 6 minutes ahead of their nearest rivals. Bethan, the only lady not in last year’s crew said “I never noticed rowing under Tower Bridge or past the Houses of Parliament as I was concentrating on my rowing so hard”.
