Double Success at Montford Bridge

MYC Rowing sent two boats down to the Montford Challenge Row in Shrewsbury this Saturday 18th March 2017, our Mens Super Vets and our Ladies.

In all 21 boats entered and kindly the organisers allowed them to row the 11 miles with the flow of the water instead of against it. The boats set off in timed intervals tow to three minutes apart. Though it was raining at the start of the race, that eased off to a refreshing drizzle. The rain had brought plenty of sticks, trees and debris down into the flow which made for some excellent tactical maneuvering.

The first three boats over all were Senior crews – 1st Ynys Mon 1hr 25 Llangwm 1 hr 25.33; 3rd Aber  1hr 26.35 but our Men’s Supervets were first in their class with a time of 1hr 30min 37. Our ladies again brought back the half a kayak trophy with the fabulous time of 1hr 32m 30 seconds. Every trophy cabinet needs a kayak!

The winning crews! Ladies – Elaine H, Sarah T, Elaine W, Christine and Sophie

Supervets – Cox Jill G – Simon, Bob, Richard G and Jono W
